General information

Bookings
Numbers are limited, so registrations are taken on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. Sorry NO REFUNDS. Registration must remain paid in advance or at the start of each session.

Absences
Absences must be notified to the Sports Centre at the earliest opportunity to ensure no confusion arises when a child does not arrive. A message can be left on the answer phone.

Pick up
Please ensure children are picked up on time, or if they are to walk home on their own, please inform staff at registration and provide a permission note to that effect.

Child Behavior
Fun Factory implements a behavior notification system

Child Protection Policy
The Hastings Sports Centre is committed to the protection of all children, therefore all suspected abuse will be reported in the first instance to CPS Officer Opal Taylor and there after may be referred to CYFS

Complaints Procedure
Should you have any complaints regarding the care of your youngster whilst on the programme, or have noticed inappropriate staff behavior, please report this in the first instance to the Sports Centre Manager, Opal Taylor or Emma Walsh at the Hastings District Council.

After-school care

The after school programme covers arts n crafts, games, homework, and free play.

Cost
$3.63per hour. Oscar Subsidies are available. There is a discounted price for families not applying for Oscar subsidies - $2 per hour.
Parents not applying for a Winz subsidy need to register with I.R.D so they can claim tax reductions on their childcare.

Hours
3pm - 6pm by arrangement, weeknights during school terms.

What to Bring
Each child should bring afternoon tea, a drink and a smile.

Bopping Tots

Bopping Tots

The aim of Bopping Tots is to provide a fun, interactive session covering the fundamental movement patterns of rhythm and dance for young children under 5 years of age.

The programme is tutored by a qualified dance instructor with many years of experience. She will introduce your young child to dance in an age-friendly way, emphasising dance basics, creative awareness and rhythm, and even some singing. Your child will be exposed to a range of musical styles, from the hippest kiddi-pop to classical favourites.

This is truly a magical programme. Your child will be encouraged to dance, imagine, sing and create.

This programme will resume in Term 1 2010

Hastings District Junior Chess Tournament

Hastings District Junior Chess Tournament

This is an annual event where young chess players can test their skills against others of a similar age. The tournament is played in a ‘Swiss Draw' style meaning youngsters play through five rounds without knockout.

Byes and children from the same school playing each other may occur (often caused by late entries) however organisers will make every attempt to avoid this happening.

The tournament is open to all youngsters who enjoy playing chess.

Games from 9.15am until finished (mid-to-late afternoon)

Cost
$3 per child, non-refundable.

Lil bambinos

Lil Bambino's

The aim of Lil Bambino’s is to provide a fun, interactive session for babies and young children aged between 6 months to a year, covering the fundamental movement patterns with a parent. This age bracket is only a guideline as all children develop at different ages and stages.

The Tutor will ensure skills are well demonstrated and that parents clearly understand how to assist their child to learn. Each class will be structured to include a warmup, fundamental movement pattern activities, skill circuit and warm down activities.

Circuit activities will cover the fundamental movement patterns each week, which will be linked with the warm up. Parents will continue to work with children in this section of the class.

Numbers are limited to 10 per class.

Hours
10.15am - 10.45am, Fridays. Each term of the class runs for 6 weeks

Netball academy

Netball Academy

The Hastings Sports Centre Netball Academy has been set up to give your child an advantage this season. The Academy is a five week comprehensive pre-season skills and development based programme aged for children five through to thirteen years old.

Your child will learn the foundation skills required by young players to assist them to progress to the top of the sport. Your child will be coached by some of Hawke's Bay's top netballers, who have several years playing and coaching experience between them.

The curriculum has been written using a variety of the latest knowledge of development skills for three different age groups. The programme runs on a progression model, each week of the programme reinforces the skills learnt in the previous week and introduces the child to new skills.

All sessions will be held indoors on a full sized netball court at the Hastings Sports Centre.

Fun Ferns (5-7 years old)

Cost
The cost for each 5 week academy programme is $40 per child.

School holiday programmes

School holiday programmes - Fun Factory

Every holidays we run two programmes, a junior and a senior. Our junior programme is for children aged 5 - 10 and our senior programme is for children aged 11 - 14. Each programme is filled with loads of fun and exciting activities to keep your children busy.

Our holiday programmes are designed using a range of activities including swimming, cooking, arts n crafts, games, movies and many other various and exciting trips…

Cost
$29.04 per day. Oscar subsidies are available. There is a discounted price for families not applying for Oscar subsidies - $16 per day.

Hours
8am - 4pm. (After care available until 6pm by arrangement)
Doors open 7.45am daily. Please use the red staircase on the side of the building. Daily registrations take place inside the doorway at the top of the stairs. Children will be supervised in this room until registrations are over.

Bookings

What to bring
Each child should bring lunch, a drink, their swimming togs, suitable play clothes and a smile.

Rules
As we are visiting other facilities we must abide by their rules during our time there. If activities have height restrictions, children under these heights can still participate if accompanied by a supervisor. This will only be subject to the supervisor's availability and discretion, and cannot be guaranteed. Programme is subject to change without notice. Fizzy drinks, chewing gum and trading cards are banned from the programme.

Payments must be made on or before programme days, and all WINZ subsidies must be processed beforehand.

Tumbling tots

Tumbling Tots

The aim of Tumbling Tots is to provide a fun, interactive session covering the fundamental movement patterns of gymnastics.

Each class will be structured to include warm-up activities, group activities such as ball skills, games with balloons etc, skill circuit and warm down activities.

We run separate classes for under and over 3s.

Hours
Under 3s - Two half-hour classes on Wednesdays, 9.15am - 9.45am and 10am-10.30am.
Over 3s - One 45-minute class on Wednesday afternoons, 1pm-1.45pm.

Cost
Under 3s - $32 per 8-week term
Over 3s - $40 per 8-week term
